Day 3 - 5/20
The third day is when things really started to come together. I started by bringing the bags of rocks over, they were super heavy. I then began cutting open each bag and pouring the rocks on to the paper. I was trying to spread them out as best as I could, but it wasn't working very well. The paper made it hard for me to move them in the way I wanted to. By the time all the rocks were down, I could still see some of the black paper (you can see in the picture below). I didn't know what to do, so I got a garden rake to try to spread them out even more. It actually worked pretty well, but soon I realized that I simply didn't have enough rocks. I would say I wish I measured this first, but I didn't really know how to determine that. I needed to go back to Lowes the next day to get more rocks. I needed bird seed as well. I was putting the large stones down for the plants while I was doing this, keeping them spaced apart. The stones act as a platform for the plants, rather than just coming out of the ground. Then I put the plants down. I don't know what any of them are called, my mom picked them out. It looked good, but it just irritated me to see the black paper. I wanted it all covered. I knew it would look so much better once the new rocks were down and I couldn't wait. I wanted to get more stones and plants as well but I didn't really have the space and I didn't think it would look very good if I added more. Overall, day three was a success, but I still had more work to do.
